Aishwarya Rai to lose weight for Shankar’s ‘Robot’

There was a word going around that Aishwarya had backed out of Rajnikanth starrer ‘Robot’ probably because she wanted to start a family, but the latest one is that the Bachchan has put that on the back burner… because Robot is too good a role to miss out on.

The director of this sci-fi thriller has apparently told the actress to shed some six kilos as she will have to perform some stunts for the film. So, Ash, who had put on some weight for her role in ‘Jodha Akbar’, has been working out meticulously at the gym and is also on a strict diet so that she can lose the weight quickly. Shankar is known to be very particular even bout the smallest details in his film. He wants to leave no stone unturned for Robot as well.

Apparently, the script of Robot is being changed so that it can be more Aishwarya-orientated. Earlier Rajnikanth’s character was to create a robot for his disabled son to play with… but now it will be a woman… a mother. But things go wrong and the Mother-Robot kidnaps the child and wants to kill it. Hence the action scenes between Rajnikanth and Aishwarya.

The film’s budget is a whopping Rs 100 crore. Shankar had approached actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan to play the lead before he finalized Rajnikanth.

Writer Sujatha is dead

The key person behind the development of the Electronic Voting Machine and an eminent writer, S Rangarajan alias Sujatha, has died.

A multi-faceted personality,73-year-old Rangarajan, is survived by wife and two sons.

Sujatha, who had been suffering from diabetes and had undergone a bypass heart surgery, died of multiple organ failure on Wednesday night, doctors at the Apollo Hospital said.

An electronics engineer from IIT-Madras, Sujatha was general manager (Research and Development) in Bharat Electronics [Get Quote] Limited (BEL) and was instrumental in designing the EVMs extensively used for polls in the country.

He had taken great pains to prove the efficacy of the EVMs a few years ago, when suspicions had been raised about the functioning of the machines.

Sujatha was a pioneer in the field of science fictions in Tamil. He also wrote short stories, novels, screenplays and columns in weeklies.

In his fictions, the writer imagined a Chennai post-2020, where air-taxis and gigolos would be a common affair. He also ventured into areas of child sex abuse, a concept not much discussed by the Tamil society.

With about 100 novels and 200 short stories under his kitty, he served as editor of popular weekly Kumudam.

His columns in Ananda Vikatan, which discussed a range of issues, enjoyed wide readership.

Sujatha wrote screenplay and dialogues for Rajnikanth-starrer film Sivaji --The Boss and under-production film Dasavataram featuring Kamal Haasan, Sujatha was to write dialogues for Shankar's Rajini Starer ROBOT (Eyanthra) also.

Aishwarya (Rai) Bachchan confirms acting in ROBOT (EYANTHRA)

There was news making the rounds yesterday that we might not get to see the Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai acting opposite our superstar in the sci-fi flick ‘Robot’. The reason that was sighted that she wanted to have babies before she hits 35.

But Aishwarya herself has quashed all rumors and confirmed that she will be acting as Rajini’s heroine in Shankar-directed ‘Robot’. She has confirmed this in her latest interview to a private news channel.

Talks are going on that Aish will star in on more Manirathnam film soon. This film will be a bilingual in Hindi and tamil. The best part is that Aish will get to act opposite her Husband Abhishek Bachchan in this film too. The earlier film we saw the coming together of this real-life pair was in Manirathnam film ‘Guru’.

This whooping 125-crore big-budget film will soon start rolling, and we have reports that Aish has already received a whooping sum as advance for her role in this film. Aish has said that she has liked the script of ‘Robot’ in which she gets to essay a very different and novel role.

Now folks this confirmation from the lady herself has quashed all rumors suggesting that the Rajini-Aishwarya pair is jinxed!

Aishwarya Rai out of Robot (Eyanthra)..!!!

It was officially announced that Ash was to play Rajinikanth’s lead lady in Shankar’s Robot, but it is official now that the former Miss World is no more a part of the project!

For super star fans who were all tipsy over the announcement that their hero would be paired with the woman rated as one of the world’s most beautiful women, this turn of events will indeed come as sad news! So what could be behind the twist in the tale? Well, there are two versions.

The first is that Ash Rai Bachchan is pregnant! Could it be that this lovely star has turned down the offer because she is expecting her first child and has hence decided against a project which is scheduled to start only later this year? Until the Bachchans decide to release the pregnancy news, if any, we’ll have to wait.

The second version is that Ash was offered a sum less than she desired, so she declined the role in a huff! Yes, it was earlier said that she had been offered a whopping 6 crores for her role and that she had been okay with it. Now the talk is that the actual offer was much less and not astronomical enough for Ash's taste.

No matter which version is true, the definite part about the news is that Ash is indeed out of Robot. So who is Shankar trying to rope in now? Deepika Padukone! Will Deepika be willing to pick up where Ash left off?

ROBOT - Recent News

Apart from the original decided casting of Rajnikanth in the lead role, Shankar as director and A. R. Rahman as the music composer, the rest of the cast is expected to be named within the next six months. Several heroines were approached to essay the lead female role with Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Asin Thottumkal, Trisha Krishnan, Shriya Saran and Nayanthara being linked with the role and furthermore, Amitabh Bachchan was considered for a further lead role.

In late January 2008, Aishwarya Rai was announced as the heroine of the project, and she later confirmed her appearance in the film to the news channel, Aaj Tak. The shoot of the film is likely to start in the summer of 2008, with Robot becoming the most expensive film ever made in India.

Most recently, Sabu Cyril was signed up as the art director, Sujatha bagged the chance to become the dialogue writer while Nirav Shah has taken up the post of the cinematographer, after K. V. Anand, Manikandan and Ravi K. Chandran had opted out.

The title of the movie in tamil seems likely to be set EYANTHRA. Title of the same movie in telugu and hindi will be ROBOT.

ரஜினி நடிக்கும் குசேலன் படப்பிடிப்பு, சென்னையில் பிப்ரவரி 15-ந் தேதி தொடங்குகிறது. தமிழ்-தெலுங்கு ஆகிய 2 மொழிகளில் படம் தயாராகிறது. தெலுங்கு படத்தில், ரஜினிகாந்த் நண்பராக ஜெகபதி பாபு நடிக்கிறார். இந்த படத்தில் ரஜினிகாந்துக்கு ஜோடி இல்லை என்றாலும், அவர் நடிகராக வருகிற காட்சிகளில், அவருடன் ஒரு பிரபல கதாநாயகிபங்குபெறுகிறார். பசுபதியின் மனைவியாக நடிக்க, இந்தி நடிகை தபுவிடம் பேச்சுவார்த்தை நடைபெறுகிறது. ரஜினி இப்போது இமயமலையில், ஆன்மீக சுற்றுப்பயணம் மேற்கொண்டுள்ளார். அவர் தனது சுற்றுப்பயணத்தை முடித்துக்கொண்டு, பிப்ரவரி 14-ந் தேதி சென்னை திரும்புகிறார்.மறுநாள் (பிப்ரவரி 15-ந் தேதி), குசேலன் படப்பிடிப்பு சென்னையில் தொடங்குகிறது. மம்முட்டி நடித்த வேடத்தில் ரஜினிகாந்த் நடிப்பது பற்றி.. கத பறயும் போல் படத்தின் வெற்றிக்கு அந்த படத்தின் கதையும், கதாபாத்திரங்களும்தான் முக்கிய காரணம். இளமை பருவத்தில் ஏழையாக இருந்து, கஷ்டப்பட்டு சினிமாவில் புகுந்து, படிப்படியாக முன்னேறி, சூப்பர்ஸ்டார் அந்தஸ்துக்கு உயர்ந்த நடிகராக நான் நடித்து இருந்தேன்.இந்த கதாபாத்திரத்துக்கு என்னைவிட, ரஜினிகாந்த் மிக பொருத்தமாக இருப்பார். சொந்த வாழ்க்கையில், நான் வசதியான குடும்பத்தை சேர்ந்தவன். வக்கீல் தொழில் செய்து கை நிறைய சம்பாதித்து இருக்கிறேன். ஆனால் ரஜினிகாந்த் நடுத்தர குடும்பத்தில் இருந்து வந்தவர். ரொம்ப கஷ்டப்பட்டு திரைப்பட கல்லூரியில் படித்து, ஒரு சின்ன வேடத்தில் சினிமாவில் அறிமுகமாகி, அவருடைய கடின உழைப்பால் சூப்பர்ஸ்டார் அந்தஸ்துக்கு உயர்ந்தவர்.எனவே என்னைவிட, ரஜினிகாந்த்தான் அந்த வேடத்துக்கு பொருத்தமானவர். மலையாள படத்தைப்போல் தமிழ் படமும் மிகப்பெரிய வெற்றியை பெறும்.

Rajinikanth to star in P.Vasu's KUSELAN

Rajnikanth will be doing the movie for K. Balachander's Kavithalaya and Seven Arts films. The Telugu version will be produced by Vyjayanthi films and Seven Arts Films. P. Vasu, who gave the runaway hit 'Chandramukhi' with the Superstar, will be directing this production too.

 

'Kuselan' signifies the importance of the lead character, a barber in a small village. The story is about the relationship he establishes with a superstar who camps in the village for a shooting. Pasupathi will be playing the role of the barber. And, Rajini would play the role of Superstar. The latest news that adds to the excitement is that G.V. Prakash will compose music for this remarkable movie.

 

Since Rajini wants to bring out the film as soon as possible, the shooting might start immediately. The film might hit the screens by July, after which the mega project 'Robot' would be started.

 

It is almost certain that Simran, the erstwhile numero uno of Tamil film industry, is donning an important role in Rajinikanth's Kuselan. Though she is not acting as the pair to Rajini, the opportunity to act in the film of India's biggest star would definitely work in her favor.

 

The beautiful actress, who had been the top heroine for many years, is struggling to make a come back after her marriage and child birth. Now she has got a golden opportunity to prove her worth by acting in 'Kuselan', opposite Pasupathy.

 

It is worth recalling that Simran, with amazing dancing skills, was the first choice for Chandramukhi, which revolved around a dancer. Since she was on the family way, she could not take up the offer and the chance went to Jyothika, who came out with a top notch performance.

 

It seems Tabu will play this role in telugu where the movie's title would be KUCHELUDU, produced by Vaijayanthi movies.
